A Mega Cleanliness Drive was successfully organized by the Lions Club of Morigaon in collaboration with the NCC and NSS Units of Morigaon College on Sunday, 17 May 2026, from 7:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. The programme was conducted with the inspiring motto, “Clean Today, Green Tomorrow, Better Morigaon.”

The cleanliness drive was carried out in the nearby areas from the Morigaon Main Police Point to the Children Park near Gopal Krishna Than, Morigaon, which has been adopted by the Lions Club of Morigaon for its maintenance and development. The main objective of the programme was to promote cleanliness, environmental awareness, and civic responsibility among the citizens.

The programme witnessed active participation from Lions members, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and local residents. A total of 32 Lions members were present and enthusiastically participated in the drive along with the student volunteers of Morigaon College.

During the programme, several important cleanliness and sanitation activities were undertaken. The drainage holes and roadside drains were cleaned to ensure the free flow of stagnant water and to prevent waterlogging in the area. Plastic waste and garbage dumped near shops and roadsides were collected and properly disposed of. The participants also swept the roadside areas and surroundings of the Children Park to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.

In addition, jungle and unwanted bushes inside the park area were cut and cleared to improve the beauty and safety of the park campus. Plastic materials and other waste items scattered inside the park were also collected as part of the environmental protection initiative.

The active involvement of NCC and NSS volunteers reflected a strong spirit of teamwork, discipline, and social service. The programme created awareness among the public regarding the importance of maintaining a clean environment and reducing plastic pollution.

The Mega Cleanliness Drive concluded successfully with a message encouraging every citizen to work collectively for a cleaner, greener, and healthier Morigaon. The organizers expressed sincere gratitude to all Lions members, volunteers, students, and local people for their valuable support and cooperation in making the programme meaningful and successful.
